i have used aquatru for 2 years..very finicky and leaks all the time. i wouldnt purchase it
AquaTru has a lot of poor reviews on Amazon with people saying it breaks within months and even weeks, tank malfunctions and is cheaply made of plastic.
Do you have a recommendation for a whole house filter if you are on a well?

Hey Ben, I bought the air doctor.. and it seems to stay on forever? Does that mean my house has some issues or do I have on wrong setting?
Do not by AquTru water filter. While it no doubt cleans water very well, physically the device is finicky and will stop working despite replacing filters and it takes an eternity to filter water after a while. I would love to have mine serviced but ….
I am not able to order this Air Doctor because I am overseas with the American military.. and you do not list a options for APO or FPO addresses., which is where I get my mail and my credit card is registered.. I know this is the same with the Aqua Tru.. This is VERY UNFORTURNATE, also very unnecessary.. The American Military addresses in Europe and Pacific are subsidized by the U.S and the costs re the SAME.
I order an receive products from Amazon, Vitacost, BareNeccessities…and others.. This is where I get my mail and where my credit card is registered.. Most of the military is stationed here for over 3 years..Come on Peter Spiegel you can do this!

What is the voltage where you are? If you're in a country where power is on 220V outlet, they don't recommend it.

Word to the wise on purchasing a hepa filter for your home. Most residential units can’t handle how much airflow is restricted by using these filters, it can cause problems with the unit, just beware and keep an eye on its performance if using one.
Ben, which air filter do you recommend for your home central air system?
Finding out that I can not order the Dr Air because the cart does not seem to allow shipping to a place other than the billing address! I can also not find any way to contact the company!!! Very frustrating to say the least…..after deciding to pull the plug after 2 days of consternation. (this is a common fault of shopping cart design in my experience.) Will go back and look and see if I am missing something. Anyone else experience this?

Very disappointed with the “shopping cart”, but that is SOP it seems these days.

A work around is to use Paypal. But be careful… go to paypal a make dern sure that you have configured a shipping address as they do the same thing and don’t ask for a shipping address either and will ship to your billing address without ever asking you where to ship…

not much discussion on whole house systems – I imagine the bacteria accumulating in tank would be an issue there as well. Is there a whole house system that Speigel recommends that mitigates the need to do a periodic deep cleaning of the tank? Individual shower filters + Aquatru might be the best strategy to limit cleanings.

I’m a little disappointed Ben. You had recommended the Aquatru water filter back in episode 361, and I bought one because I trusted your recommendations and thought you would never recommend a product without trying it first, forget outright lie about allegedly using it . According to this latest episode , it appears you knew absolutely Nothing about it and it never made it out of your garage. Clear to me now your motivation is to just push products. Lost a 3 year listener today .

It could make water out of a slimy creek drinkable
But of course you would have to get NEW filters after
We have this 2 yrs now and never got sick or had bad reaction to cleaning tap water that is filtered this way
My husband cleans the inside of the tip&lower water jugs twice year ricing the water through the filters also and wants to change the filters at end of oct which is our 2yr anniversary
I too am disappointed as I purchased the Aquatru after your recommendation as I was under the impression you (Ben) had tested and was using the unit in 2016.
Have you been happy with the Aquatru unit?
As I've stated before, I do not have RO nor do I currently use Aquatru or any other standard system because my entire home is on well water, and that passes through two custom filters that address iron and manganese in our water, then passes through a structured water filter.
My setup is very unique, and I don't "paint with a broad brush" and make the same recommendations to everyone. This is why, even though I don't currently use it, I have recommended it because it satisfied, and actually far exceeded, all my criteria for a water filter.

Neither looks too difficult, the second one perhaps a bit easier.
Have not found out how to use a steripen to do the sterilization as mentioned in the podcast.
Sounds like it might be a better way to go.

Instead of using bleach to clean your reverse osmosis water system, do you think it would be okay to use somethg in less toxic, like on guard?
