Enjoyed the episode, thank you. Quick question on bathroom and general cleaning of typically mould prone areas- bleach isn’t a good idea, but what is? Vinegar to kill mould?

    1. Straight vinegar kills about 82% of molds and it also absorbs odors.

Tea Tree oil will all kinds of mold but it does have a strong smell (that I personally like). 2 cups of water, 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil.

  2. Jen says:

I had a huge mild problem this past year in the place we rented from. We had a professional mold testing company come out and do the air samples. It made us all so sick. My sons lung collapsed, along with panic attacks, nausea, dizziness, lethargy, and no appetites for everyone. It’s was so so scary. People really underestimate what mold can do to us.

Do you have an opinion about killing environmental mold using essential oil diffusers?

    Hi Ben,
just heard that you are constructing a new home on your other interview with Dave.
Have you looked into hemp insulation that lets damp out but keeps the warmth in? It starts to have a renaissance in Europe (e.g. Thermohanf.com in Germany).

    1. interesting. I'll check it out!

  5. Great to hear Dave Asprey do another spot on education piece on mold and mycotoxins. My family got very sick from hidden toxic molds from particle board or chip board… so I was pleased he is focused in on that. Modern building materials are mold food… I think the percentage of moldy homes is higher than 1/3… so that is a conservative estimate. It would be great to have mandatory testing. I think people would be surprised at the amount of buildings that are toxic.

  6. darcieg76 says:

If you bleach mold that's on exposed drywall (i.e., you have access to the front and back of it), and you dry it out with a heater, and you can no longer see the mold, is it still getting "pissed off" and spewing toxins everywhere?

    Thanks!

    1. Sadly, bleach kills the surface but offers water to the hyphae in the walls…short answer, it doesn’t work on anything but glass or porcelain.
