– How I’m Nourishing My Gut Fast After My Giardia Bout

A few weeks ago, I told you about my giardia bout and how “colostrum” is one way to get your gut back up to normal fast after something like this. Colostrum is also a very potent way to increase growth hormone, gain muscle mass, and stabilize the gut during hot exercise, especially for endurance athletes.

…”Scientific studies on whole colostrum show that some of the bio-active components necessary to provide the health benefits of a true colostrum are fat-soluble and found in high concentrations only up to 6-8 hours after birth and removal of that fat would result in the removal of important bio-active components.” – Dr. Donald H. Lein, chairman of Population Genetics and Diagnostic Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University.

Research shows that the fat “holds” approximately 50 percent of the IGF-I growth factors. In a controlled laboratory study at Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories, New Ulm, however, it was found that some popular imported brands of colostrum have an extremely low fat content of less than five percent. Many widely marketed brands of colostrum have immunoglobulin counts ranging from 25 to 40 percent; these products are usually filtered or standardized specifically for immunoglobulins but all other components removed. They only work with producers whose philosophy is to produce a product that is 100 percent first milking and complete. Some products touting high immunoglobulin levels contain 30 percent or more. In Renegade Colostrum, the immunoglobulin content is 22.11 percent, which indicates a high level of growth factors and reflects the fact that the product is not de-fatted but rather represents a complete colostrum powder.

On a busy day when I don’t have time to devote to a proper “full workout”, I often do “micro workouts”, which are short movement sessions of 10 minutes or so that I weave into each hour of the day. ⁣ ⁣ For example, two days ago, I wandered out to the garage at the top of every hour for one #Tabata set on the air assault bike followed by 30 #bodyweight squats, 20 pushups, 10 pull-ups. By repeating this each hour during my day (total of 10 hours), I had done 40 minutes of HIIT, 300 squats, 200 pushups and 100 pull-ups by the end of the day! ⁣ ⁣ This style of working out also has a massive appetite suppressing effect, eliminates mindless eating, and keeps the #metabolism screaming high the entire day. Another favorite microworkout I like is to, again at the top of each hour, go out to my home gym and do 30 burpees, then one single set of 10 hex bar deadlifts as heavy as I can handle.
