New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!
– Great Book I Just Read About “Returning To Our Roots”
I recently read the book “Primal: Why We Long To Be Wild & Free” by Nate Summers. It was actually quite good, and inspired me to pick up another book about bird language called “What The Robin Knows.” These days, I find my heart increasingly craves nature and wilderness, which, admittedly, is an uphill battle with as much time as I spend on planes and in hotel rooms.
Similar to my friend Daniel Vitalis, I do have a desire going forward to steer my life in the direction of more nature immersion and hunting. Primal addresses how TV survival shows and survival schools are more popular than ever; Paleo diets are proving to be more than just a passing trend; and free-range parenting is gaining steady momentum.
So in an age when living in a modern society often equates to comfort and ease, why is it that we are so interested in these primal aspects of being human when they are no longer really necessary?
Why are we still so fascinated with making fire or stone tools in this social media-driven digital age?
Why are we urging our children to run back out into the wild?
The answer to all of these questions—to why we seek out the natural world—stares us in the mirror every day: We long to fulfill our natural destiny as upright-walking hunter-gatherer-nomads. It’s who we are. This book is a great guide to learn how to begin to pursue “survival” situations to fulfill our deep, soulful longings. Worth a read.

::: Save 25% On The Not-So-Secret Weapon I Swear By For Deep Sleep :::
Between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., your core temperature falls the most drastically, allowing for more neuron and nervous system repair, neuron growth, an upregulation of circulating T cells (the killer cells of your immune system), and a decrease in inflammation. If you can get solid sleep during this phase, you’ll have a stronger immune system and less inflammation.
I support this drop in temperature by sleeping on a device called a chiliPAD, which circulates cool water at my chosen temperature of 55 degrees below my body during the entire night of sleep.
Their new OOLER system has some pretty sweet features, including ‘warm awake,' which slowly and gently wakes you up by gradual warming your bed (Say goodbye to your annoying and blaring phone alarm.)

Featured Product: Kion Colostrum – Back In Stock!
Kion Goat's Milk Colostrum has been shown to improve athletic performance by reducing gut permeability caused by heavy exercise, improving measures of performance, and supporting lean mass maintenance. It also contains the following components, which play important biological roles that are vital to proper health and immune function:
- Cytokines: Help keep communication between immune cells active to regulate the body’s immune response
- Growth Factors: Assist with the maintenance and growth of certain body tissues, including muscle and gastrointestinal lining.
- Lactoferrin: Assists with iron absorption and is a crucial part of your immune defense system.
- Growth Hormone: Aids in the growth and function of gastrointestinal tissues, muscle and more.
- Immunoglobulins: Used by your immune system to seek out and destroy foreign antigens (invaders).
- Proline-Rich Polypeptides: Encourage the growth of white blood cells and may restore the balance of cellular immune functions. PRPs may defend against oxidative stress and support brain health.
In addition, colostrum contains vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids, all of which play a crucial role in total body wellness. Because goat milk closely resembles human milk, goat colostrum is effective in humans and less allergenic than cow milk.

I have a confession: I poop once per day. One smooth, glorious morning movement, and then I'm done. And I don't really think about number 2 at all until the next day. It's quite convenient, especially compared to my old days of hitting the head a handful of times during the day, straining, always feeling like I had something “still inside.” How do I keep my digestive tract running so smoothly, you ask? 1. Organic Coffee Enema: I do a coffee enema with organic, mold-free coffee (namely @kion) once per week because I carry a higher genetic risk for colon cancer. This ancient practice has numerous benefits including mechanical cleansing of the colon, increased lymphatic drainage, and improving liver function. I have a full article detailing all of the benefits of this that you can find by clicking the link in my bio. 2. Squatty Potty: The @squattypotty is a carefully designed toilet stool that puts you in exactly the correct, ancestral position for fast and easy elimination. Helping with constipation and straining during bathroom movements, hip tightness and more! (link in bio) 3. Pre and Probiotics: A good probiotic can do wonders for balancing the gut microbiome and improving the health of the digestive system. My personal favorite is the Daily Synbiotic by @seed – currently the most comprehensive, science-backed pre/probiotic on the market. (link in bio) And right now, @seed is running their #giveashit campaign. By taking a picture of your own glorious bowel movement and submitting it to seed.com/poop, you will help contribute to some amazing science in the largest collection of poop photos EVER (best done on mobile). These photos will help to train an AI named auggi to recognize the shape, texture, size, and consistency in order to create algorithms to learn the difference between healthy and unhealthy poop, automate symptom tracking and analysis, and help change the future of gut health and patient care. This means new bio markers for health and even earlier detection and diagnosis for diseases like colon cancer. PS… Please send your photos to seed.com/poop, because as much as I love you, I don't need nor want to see your poop 🙂
