New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I'm Trying, Books I'm Reading, And More!

Bee Venom Therapy

During a recent trip to Sedona, I tried something new: bee venom therapy. Now before you go running for the hills because I've officially gone off my rocker, think of it this way: It's kind of like acupuncture, but with bee stings instead.

There, feel better now?

Seriously though, my friend Andrew Sans at BeeBodyWork.com has studied up on this special form of therapy called “Hoshin Meridian Apitherapy.” Yeah, bee venom therapy, basically, under a fancier name. It originated in China approximately 5,000 years ago and was refined by the Japanese into the highly soothing spiritual art of Hoshindo Meridian Apitherapy as a classical art form based on principles of traditional Nihon East Asian healing arts, unique clinical techniques, ceremonial aspects of Hoshindo, and organic/biodynamic beekeeping practices.

Supposedly it acts as a giant sort of “reset” for the immune system.

Ultimately, it took about 2 hours, and Andrew “stung” with the tiny bees dozens and dozens of meridian points all over my body. I'm not sure what exactly it may have done for my immune system, but I felt a HUGE surge of energy (probably due to endorphin release), a slight craving for honey afterwards (ha!), and had a really good night of sleep that night.

Anybody else try this form of therapy? Curious to hear your thoughts on it. And if you want to look up Andrew (here's his Instagram) the next time you're in Sedona, do so, as he also does some other interesting therapies like abdominal massage, sound therapy, guided breathwork, etc.

Special Announcements:

::: A New Way To Get Your Vitamin D :::

Do you have low vitamin D levels, but need another supplement added to your regimen like you need a hole in your head?

Enter Amp Human's revolutionary gel-based topical vitamin D3. Just two pumps deliver 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 directly through your skin to boost immunity, sleep quality, brain function, and bone health:

  • Vitamin D plays a critical role in immunity, specifically in respiratory illnesses like the flu. It is shown to support the production of antibodies and defensive cells lining the throat and lungs.
  • Vitamin D receptors have been found in the areas of the brain that control sleep duration and quality. Studies have shown links between vitamin D supplementation and improved sleep quality, reduced sleep latency, and increased sleep duration.
  • Vitamin D plays a role in reducing oxidative stress, which in turn appears to improve cognitive function. It also maintains some of the core hormones that support our mood.
  • Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium in the gut, which is needed for proper bone growth and strength.

Amp Human D+ Lotion is clinically proven to triple vitamin D levels in just 3-4 months. D+ Lotion can be used any time of day, wherever it fits best in your routine. And unlike D3 supplements, you don't have to wait for a meal containing fat to help it absorb. One bottle of Amp Human D+ Lotion contains a 60-day supply and comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee.

::: Discover A Whole New You! :::

Do you remember the last runner’s high or exercise endorphin release you had from that killer workout? Have you ever thought, I wish that feeling could last?

Well, I have news for you. A much deeper and richer satisfaction is readily available at your fingertips.

As an author, speaker, and consultant in the realms of health, fitness, nutrition, and body and brain optimization, I have come to understand a glaring reality:

The relatively self-obsessed or carnal pursuits of a lower body fat percentage, finding the perfect diet, crushing the next Spartan race, or “reversing the aging process, are all ultimately unfulfilling, and can often leave one standing at the top of the mountain of physical and mental achievement, yet in a valley feeling empty emotionally, relationally, and spiritually.

This is why I designed the Spiritual Disciplines Journal.

In the same way your mental and physical muscles must be repeatedly challenged and stressed to gain intelligence and brawn, so must your spiritual muscles be consistently trained to produce growth, expansion, enlightenment, and most importantly, sustain the spirit behind them.

My brand new Spiritual Disciplines Journal will give you the structure, direction, and discipline your spirit needs to flourish so that your entire existence becomes more meaningful and more purposeful

Hi Ben, Bee venom therapy is something my friends from Mexico have used for years, passed down by their elders. They use it for energy, to recover from a hangover, if they feel a cold coming on, when they know they have an extra hard day ahead of them and for many other reasons. The interesting thing about their way to do it is I believe they use only one bee. I am not sure of all the details, I never tried it, I just eat extra honey for every reason. This also makes me wonder, not that it matters, but where did it first originate. The bee is an amazing animal that has so much to offer. Unfortunately what I have read is that the bee dies after the therapy. I will have to ask my friends if the bee they use dies or if they just irritate it so it will sting them. Interesting subject.

    Hey Ben,
Nice roundup, I can’t believe anyone would intentionally sting themselves with bees!
I’d love to get in touch with you for questionnaire style roundup that might double as a great talking point for the Q&A portion of your podcast! The question is: “What’s something you know now that you wish you knew when you were younger?”. I’m sure anyone who is crazy enough to get stung by bees on purpose has some interesting tid-bits to share!
Keep up the great work, Cheers!
