A Handy Alternative To Dipping/Chewing Tobacco

One of my buddies recently gave me some “Cannadips” to try. These things come in a tin just like chewing tobacco, and the tin contains dip pouches just like chewing tobacco—but instead of nicotine and tobacco, you get CBD combined with a blend of essential oils.

Cannadips utilize a process that preserves the valuable terpene and flavonoid compounds found in their American grown hemp, which in turn increases CBD bioavailability and allows for quick mucosal absorption directly in your mouth. Make Your Own Nicotine Gum For Pennies On The Dollar

While we're talking vices, we might as well talk about nicotine, right? Tired of forking out oodles of cash for fancy gum—especially gum with spendy ingredients such as the surprisingly mitochondrial and cognition benefitting nootropic nicotine? I recently tried my hand at making my own nicotine gum, and it actually turned out to be surprisingly chewy and flavorful.

I used the following ingredients for a pleasant strawberry-vanilla version:

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Gum Base – Use a double boiler to slowly melt the gum base. The gum base is very sticky, and has the potential to ruin anything it comes in contact with (consider using an old food jar for the melting process.) Put 1/4 cup of the gum base in a jar, bring the water in your pot to a boil, then put the jar in the water. After about 20 minutes the gum base begins to melt and gets very sticky.
  2. Knead the Gum – Once the gum base is nice and gooey, take it off the flame, and scoop it onto a cornstarch-coated surface. Knead the gum until it has a taffy-like consistency. If it sticks to your hands too much, add more cornstarch.
  3. Add Flavorings – Using a dropper or small teaspoon, slowly add a small amount of your desired flavoring. Taste test throughout this process to see how much flavoring is enough. 
  4. Flattening & Cutting – Using a rolling pin, flatten the gum out to your desired thickness, then cut into squares.
  5. Packaging – After you cut it into squares, I recommend folding it up into small wax paper squares, or just keeping in a glass or stainless steel container in your pantry.

What is Grounding? Also known as “earthing,” grounding is the practice of exposing your body to the natural magnetic frequencies produced by the earth. When you have your feet firmly planted on the ground, you come into contact with negative ions, which are produced by turbulent, crashing water, such as waves at the beach and waterfalls, and in forests, mountains, and other places affected by rainstorms or thunderstorms. When you are exposed to negative ions, your body releases positive ions that accumulate via cellular metabolism. Accumulated positive ions reduce the natural electrochemical gradient across your cell membranes. This gradient is responsible for allowing compounds in and out of your cells, so when excess positive ions disrupt the gradient, they also disrupt cellular metabolism and increase inflammation.
