Welcome to my Weekly Roundup!

New Discoveries Of The Week: Cool New Things I’m Trying, Books I’m Reading, And More!
-Book: “Principles” by Ray Dalio. The COO of Kion and I have been going through this book and coming up with plenty of gems for operating a happy, robust, well-oiled company while maintaining employee happiness and delivering mad value. If you own a company or work in management for any company, this one is well worth a read. My biggest takeaway? Strike an ideal balance between “Savoring Life” and “Making An Impact”.
– Toy: Nebulizing Essential Oil Diffuser. Only recently did I discover that this nebulizing style of essential oil diffuser results in a much more highly concentrated essential oil delivery than other diffusers. Proceed with caution: I’ve almost overdosed on essential oils like rosemary, cinnamon and peppermint in my office. My favorite source of oils for this bad boy? I like the brands Young Living and also Essential Oil Wizardry (and definitely not Walmart).
– Habit: Slow Walk. I am now, on Sunday afternoons, forsaking my usual “brisk powerwalk” for an extremely slow, nearly Tai-Chi-esque walk in which I focus on slow, graceful movement, rather than getting from point A to B as quickly as possible and rather than focusing on fitness or heart rate elevation. Call me an old fuddy-duddy but I feel amazingly focused and at peace after one of these “slow walks”, and it’s surprisingly hard to slow yourself down. I mostly achieve it by pretending I’m “sneaking up” on someone.

Articles & Podcasts I Was Featured In This Week:
::: ‘Dirty Genes’ FREE Online Summit :::
Did you listen to my podcast with Dr. Ben Lynch? If you’ve ever tested your genes (or wanted to) and had a completely head-scratching experience when it comes to interpreting your results or translating your genetic testing results into actionable information, then read on.
Dr. Lynch quickly realized that there was a huge gap between what the geneticists published in their research papers and what the medical providers practiced in their offices. The scientists were ridiculously far ahead of doctors and nurses, who often had no idea how to help their patients respond to genetic abnormalities or even to follow the basics of good gene health. Nor did practitioners have any idea how to create a targeted program geared to specific genetic issues.
In 2015, he developed StrateGene, a unique approach to helping people develop natural strategies for overcoming genetic abnormalities. People who were getting their genetic challenges from websites like 23andMe or Genos Research were receiving massively confusing documents with wildly contradictory information. His system zeroes in on the genetic abnormalities that pose the greatest challenges in people’s health and then provides comprehensive plans for overcoming those challenges through diet, environment and lifestyle.
So, if you’ve completed genetic testing and you’re afraid you’ve inherited a “master plan” with your genes…Characteristics that are written in stone…Conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, or even heart disease or cancer…NONE of that is true. Your genetic destiny is changeable, every moment of your life. And this event gives you the tools and information to fix your Dirty Genes.

I love those nights my wife makes bone broth and I get to just eat all the bones and gizzards that are left over. I drench them in olive oil and sea salt. Do you have any crazy nutritional habits that you love but that other people might think are kind of gross? #foodporn #bonebroth

- Anti-aging factors associated with longevity*
There are just a handful of true blue zones or longevity hotspots in the world. One is Bama County, located in western China on the slopes of the Himalayas. Amongst Japan’s many islands, the people of Okinawa are also the longest-lived. Okinawa also has a secret very similar to Bama County – and in both Bama County and Okinawa medical researchers have found that key foods play a significant role in the longevity of the inhabitants.
In Bama County, much credit is given to the daily consumption of a plant they call shilianhua, or “rock lotus”. In Okinawa, a role similar to that of rock lotus is filled by “wild bitter melon”. This is not the bitter melon commonly found in many vegetable markets, but a smaller and far more bitter version that grows wild. Both rock lotus and bitter melon are in Kion Lean. So what do the rock lotus and wild bitter melon in Kion Lean have in common that promote optimal blood sugar levels and insulin response that support healthy weight management, liver health, and longevity?*
The answer involves caloric restriction and insulin.
In short, rock lotus and Glycostat® work better in combination. Both promote better blood sugar control with less insulin.* Both promote healthy blood pressure.* Both support healthy liver function.* And both mimic changes in cellular energy metabolism typical of caloric restriction.*
So even if you can’t live in a longevity hotspot such as Bama County or Okinawa, Kion Lean can bring the longevity hotspot to you, all while supporting a healthy, lean physique!
