The Mouth-Watering Creation I've Been Cooking Up At The Crack Of Dawn
One of my guilty pleasures in life is to watch two different YouTube channels, often while I'm eating lunch. They are, drumroll, please…
“Sous Vide Everything” and “Guga Foods BBQ Channel.” Both are incredibly entertaining and the mad food and cooking scientists showcase crazy recipes, from dry-aged steak in honey to Coca-Cola and Sprite marinades to slow-smoking eggs, and plenty more.
Anyways, one hair-brained idea I got from digesting (ha!) a few of these videos was to try my hand at a 1-2 Sous Vide/Smoker combo. While my new Boundless Cookbook has a few variations of both Sous Vide and Smoking recipes, particularly for rendering meat incredibly tender and flavorful, I've never actually combined the two with much effectiveness.
At the ungodly hour of 4:30 am (that's when I get up anyways these days, actually), after rubbing down the baby back ribs with paprika, garlic, onion, sea salt, black pepper, and cayenne, then stuffing them into low-plastic “Stasher” bags with a healthy dose of Joey's Hot Sauce, organic apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, dijon mustard, and avocado oil, I then set them into the Sous Vide water bath at 165°F and walked away for 12 hours.
At 12 hours, I came back, removed the ribs from the bags, brushed them with the sauces from the bags, and transferred them to the smoker at 165°F for another 2 hours, brushing again every 30 minutes as they smoked.
The results were astounding and mouth-watering. Tender, fall-off-the-bone meat? Check. A beautiful smoky flavor with the sweetness of maple and the tangy spice of hot sauce? Check. A very happy family with sticky BBQ fingers? Check. Add this recipe to your line-up and you won't be sorry, guaranteed.

My Zen Ramping, Blue Tongue Magic Trick
If you heard my podcast with Dr. Ted Achacoso, or have seen me popping a tiny blue “troche” on my morning sunshine walks, then you might be familiar with Troscriptions, a cool new methylene blue “nootropic.”
A troche (pronounced troh-key) is simply a small lozenge designed to slowly dissolve between a person’s cheek and gum. As the troche dissolves, the ingredients are gradually absorbed through the cheek mucosa into the bloodstream.
The nicotine in these troches is fast-acting, and a safer alternative to smoking or vaping, both of which contain volatile and carcinogenic (cancer-causing) compounds. They have no fillers, no preservatives, and no carcinogenic ingredients. You simply let one of these things dissolve slowly between your cheek and your gums (do not chew it!).
The immediate effects of the combo of methylene blue, nicotine, and CBD cause near-instant focus, clarity, verbal fluidity, mitochondrial enhancement, and much more. The zen ramping happens over 15 to 30 minutes and lasts between 3 to 4 hours. I call it blue tongue magic (and btw, baking soda in water swished in your mouth gets the blue off).
