I first met today's podcast guest at a health conference four years ago.

I happened to be sitting across the dinner table from him, and watched as he pulled out the mysterious leather satchel that I'd seen him carrying all weekend long. He opened the satchel to reveal tiny bottles of black oil, dropper bottles full of dark, green algae-like goo, mineral salts, and all kinds of other strange substances which he proceeded to use to “dress-up” his dinner.

Later, I learned his name – Ian Clark – and invited him on my podcast to talk about that green algae goo, which turned out to be marine phytoplankton.

I also learned that back in 2004, at the age of 46, when he was hit with a series of life threatening health issues, obesity, and a prediction from physicians that he only had about two years left to live, Ian refused to accept life’s traditional circumstances and decided to pursue more natural methods of restoring perfect health.

Ian began traveling all over the world to discover strange, new health products while developing relationships with top labs and researchers in the fields of natural healing. Now operating out of a farm in Canada with his five sons and the support of an entire team of innovators at Activation Products Canada and Activation Germany, his company has become a significant manufacturer of unique products like magnesium spray, black seed oil, marine phytoplankton and much more.

In today's podcast with Ian, you'll discover:

-The genetic illness that nearly killed Ian back in 2004 and led to his journey of interest in natural healing…

-How you can personally “equip” your body to deal with mold and fungus (and the shocking link between mold, fungus and cancer)…

-How Ian has created his own micro-universe to heal his body…

-One specific pose you can hold for 30 minutes a day for two weeks to “reboot” your autonomic nervous system…

-The small exercise machine that Ian swears by and keeps in both his home and his office…

-A new form of fasting called “dry fasting”…

-What Ian uses as a “smart drug” to stay hyper-awake and alert…

-The reason Ian sprays his entire abdomen with magnesium prior to bed at night…

-Why Ian travels everywhere with a black leather bag, and what he keeps in it…

-And much more!

You mention Ian has a website and a podcast. I can’t find anything on him anywhere. It’s a fairly common name. Even using keywords like fasting with his name, nothing comes up.

  2. lise sheehan says:

Hi, this was great and so informative. In the podcast you say you will have a link to the pdf on how to dryfast, but I don’t see it. I figured maybe that meant the book had been published but I can’t find any indication that there is a book by him either. I really want to dry fast to heal myself. Please tell me there is a book.

  7. Amy says:

    Hi,

Only just found this podcast. Truly enjoyed it. Any luck with the PP?

    1. david says:

YES , I agree , I’d love to get the power point he referenced too

  8. Ken Owens says:

Ben, You have a fantastic podcast. I have listened to many different podcasts over the last 5 years on health and wellness and it seems like every single podcast of yours I am learning something new and digging into your notes and references. I have purchased a few things from Ian’s website and am also beginning to wonder if he is a just another fast-talking salesman for not coming through with the power point details on dry fasting that he said he would have months ago for us to look at. I would purchase his book, but his creditability is starting to disappear if he can’t follow through on his promises.

  9. Jason says:

Ian, where is your PP!!??? ;)~

    1. Sandy says:

They sure have time to send out 10 pages emails daily on oils and plankton. It seems like they would finish the fasting book now while demand is high.

      1. Jason says:

Anything from Ian Ben? Hook us up already l!! :)~

        1. nothing yet. I keep bugging him.

Hey love the podcast, listen to it while I run or drive to work. I would really like to see the dry fast protocol have you gotten the PowerPoint I can’t seem to do it? This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of the protocol and have been extremely interested in it for a while but can’t find much info online about what exactly people are doing. Thanks. ????

    1. We're still waiting to get it off Ian.

      1. Alex says:

        Still waiting…?

        Just looking for updates

        1. It's still being finalized. They should have something together soon.

  12. Jason says:

Any update from Ian on the dry fast protocol Ben?

    1. Jeffrey says:

Yea, I am still waiting on this as well. :)

      1. FYI this is still being finalized and he should have something together soon!

    2. Jennifer says:

I am SUPER curious about the dry fast protocol as well. Didn’t he say he had powerpoint? Any info? Thx!

  13. Jorge Rivera says:

    Hey Ben,

Dude can’t get enough of the show I am constantly learning and putting myself in the guinea pig roll, with the proper protocols of course.

Anyway, I have copious amounts of questions that I would like to ask but I will keep it to one this time around. *This may be out of your norm as far as questions but I thought I’d give it a go!* This is in regards to the Poliovirus. My aunt has lived with Polio since she was three or four years old. She is by far the hardest working person I know. She studied anthropology and teaches in Mexico City. She is in her fifties now..she lives a pretty rough life. Since listening to your podcast I’ve learned tons on the nervous system, muscle function, subjects like biochemistry such as: macros and micros, different pathways, the effects of too much protein and how to avoid gluconeogensis, amongst many other things, when in combination with a keto diet. And I figured with your expertise a few hurdles will be jumped, so, my question what would you recommend as far as supplements or whatever the case may be, that would benefit my aunt in I guess to live a little bit less in pain and feel better than how she normally feels..You know, “better livin’ through science.”
Even if it’s the slightest change, to her I know it would feel gargantuan.
I am curious to hear your perspective. How would you tackle this situation, kind of thing.

Thanks for your time Ben and Rachel,

    Jorge, from Phoenix, AZ

    1. Hey Jorge, probably best to book a consult for this one – go to <a href="https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/ben” target=”_blank”>www.greenfieldfitnesssystems.com/ben and choose 20 minutes or call it into the podcast at speakpipe.com/bengreenfield and we'll cover it on there!

  14. Derick Barbosa says:

This Dry fast protocol sounds very interesting. Any luck getting this from Ian?

    Thanks!

  15. Benjamin says:

You mentioned a podcast where you talked to a guy who works with Real Madrid. I can’t find it. Can you post link to where i can find it?

  16. Hayley says:

Loved the podcast!!! Ian mentioned he ate raw vegan for several years but no longer does. Do you know what his diet is now? And why he decided not to stay with the raw vegan lifestyle? Thanks!

  17. Ash Kramer says:

Excellent podcast Ben. Check out the DRY FASTING (No Water Or Food) closed Facebook group for some good resources, particularly in the pinned post.

I’ve been looking at dry fasting for a degenerative condition but have avoided it because no one can clarify the effect of dry fasting and dehydration on spinal disk fluid levels (my problem is disk-related) so the juice protocol might be useful – maybe more so than a water fast.

Looking forward to seeing the PowerPoint when it’s available.

  18. Kosta says:

Hey Ben, I only recently found your podcast and I’ve probably already listened to about 25 of them! I really enjoy listening to you and I feel like I’ve learned so much in so little time. I have a question though. My father is dealing with lung cancer right now, what are some supplements that you would recommend for him? He has done some traditional chemo and a little radiation and even an immunotherapy. I just want him to have a higher quality of life. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Take care and thanks

    1. I should begin by clarifying the fact that I am *not* a physician and this is *not* to be interpreted as medical advice. Please talk to a licensed medical professional about all of this!

But I'd highly recommend you listen to this Saturday's podcast with Raj Bhachu. We talk about this very thing.

  19. Dave Fellows says:

So…. where’s this illusive dry fasting ppt?? Ian’s losing a bit of credibility and goodwill here when certain resources are promised but not delivered almost two weeks later. I’m checking back every other day but that’s getting quite tedious…

    1. We are working on it!

      1. Dave Fellows says:

OK, good on ya (figured you’d be all over it) ;)

      2. lise sheehan says:

2 weeks, haha, it’s now been 4 years and nothing, and I can’t find a book either. Hold out a carrot of a cure for suffering people and never deliver. I don’t mind paying, just pony up.

  20. Brian says:

Still no Powerpoint for dry fasting? Or when will the book be available?

  21. Jeff says:

When Ian references grape juice and lemon juice for a juice fast, am I incorrect in thinking this is not the “dry fast” he references. I am curious to learn more about the lemon juice protocol he uses. Does he Vitamix lemons? Vitamix grapes? Any link to this info? thanks

  22. Mike Sage says:

He mentioned curing himself in 5 years, what would have taken him 6 months knowing what he knows now… would be curious about the protocol/products used for what seems like a heavy metal and fungal detox as well as clearing up some clogged arteries and skin conditions.

  23. Bill says:

    Ben,

Awesome podcast!! Great info!! I too am very interested in the fasting protocol. Cant wait to see it.

Thanks for all that you do!!

  24. Jay says:

What is the ozonated water Ian mentions? Where can I get some?

  25. Jay says:

He mentioned he keeps a water micronizer in his black bag. Where can I get a water micronizer at?

  26. Tim says:

    Hey Ben,

    Another great podcast.

Will the resource you post from Ian Clark have his simple protocol for both dry fasting & the grape juice/lemon juice detox?

Also in regards to that, I know Ian says you can workout, but what are your thoughts to high intensity exercise while fasting/detoxing?

  27. Terri says:

The pose Ian discusses is a common restorative yoga pose (NOT happy baby). It is incredibly effective and more so if the calf muscles are pressing into the seat of the chair or folded blankets (rather than the heels being the connecting points of the lower legs). It can also be a slight inversion by elevating the sacrum on folded blankets or a firm cushion (the lower legs may then need more height) adding to the potential homeostasis of the nervous system.

  28. Julian says:

Any chance of getting the link to that Powerpoint up on the site?

  29. Joe Gorman says:

Hey ben..I’d just like to tell you i look forward to your podcasts.
You have a knack for keeping it interesting and educational in a cool way.
My dream show one day would be to hear you interview andrew weil m.d.
on botany and the bodys natural power to heal. I have been following weil for over 20 yrs. He’s possibly old enough to be your grandfather but is still practicing a fitness regime in his home state of arizona. The self described healthiest place to live in the usa.One qoute you may enjoy is his philosophy to carry insurance into our mid age.Insurance in respects to “a little extra weight” to have incase one has a life threatening illness.Something “to fight with”
Take care of yourself and the family ben.

    1. Thanks Joe – I'll look into him!

  30. Gerard F says:

    Hi Ben,

Just checked my HRV and had my highest scores across the board in all areas rmssd, Lf HF, and even a balanced Lf/HF ratio. I tried dr stitlers sitting protocol yesterday for the first time and I wonder if it was that. I also did some deep belly breathing and was mindful about being grateful. I’m pretty blown away right now, I had a very stressful day yesterday with little sleep and I am quite surprised with my high HRV numbers. I’ll continue to do the sitting protocol for 2 weeks and see what happens. Great podcast and thank you for always taking the time to respond

  31. Dustin Knuttgen says:

I too am very interested in the PowerPoint presentation that Ian said he was going to send you. I am ready to do some testing and would like to know the procedure. Or do we have to wait for Ian’s book?

  32. Kyla says:

    Hey Ben,

I also looked through the dry fasting google drive documents and though I see the ebook, I don’t see Ian Clark’s personally created PowerPoint he mentions in the podcast. I know he mentions making his own protocol, including kidney support, and said he would send that PowerPoint to you. Any chance that will be added to the resources for this episode?

  33. Vince says:

Can you link the article that Ian referenced about the parasympathetic reset? I’ve been trying to find it, and the pose used, but I haven’t been able to find anything. Thanks for another intriguing and enriching podcast.

  34. Beth says:

Does Ian Clark have a protocol for cancer. Relative has stage 4pancreatic cancer with no hope and was wondering if he has anything new to try?

    1. lou says:

Have you heard of Dr. Burzynski?
      http://www.burzynskiclinic.com/

  35. JB says:

    Hey Ben,

Do you have a post somewhere on your site about your protocol/treatment of Tinea Versicolor? Were you able to get rid of it completely? Please share and thanks in advance!

      1. lou says:

sorry this was meant for Beth’s question. Please disregard/delete

  36. LK says:

What was the micronizer for water that he uses?

  37. Robin Maisel says:

The power point is not there -only the very long ebook :(

Also, Ian said you are burning glucose since you are drinking huge amounts of grape juice. I wish he would have addressed this in the podcast. Have never heard of a quality fast drinking sugar!!

    Can someone explain this??

  38. Joniv says:

How do I downlload this so that I can have it on my ipod?

    1. Click the download button on this page.

  39. Jared Rudolph says:

    RE: Fungus

Jim Haszinger at www.worldhealthmall.com has been talking about this for decades.

Ben, you should get an interview with him.

  40. Horatio says:

I hope you have him on again soon. He never finished the story of how he got well, or how we can cure ourselves of a fungal infection

  41. sean says:

your “Real Madrid” pronunciation – lol! Real is Spanish for Royal, in Spanish it’s pronounced “ray-yahl”. Totally useless correction, but funny for big soccer fans. Great podcast, loved your topics. Reminds me of a lot of stuff that Chris Kresser discusses on the molds and fungi.

  42. CML says:

Hi, I’d like to learn more about that pose to reboot the autonomic nervous system but can’t see it on the link to Dr Stitler’s website…do you have anymore links?

    1. Lark L says:

I am pretty sure it is same as “the child’s pose” used in yoga. Google that for many pics and videos

  43. Alex says:

    Great episode.

What was your oil of oregano protocol for getting rid of your Tinea Versicolor?

  44. Amy says:

So Ben, what are your thoughts on this Xiser? A decent bang for the buck or do you think a stair climber would be more efficient (I ask because I use one at the gym and it kicks my ass)

    1. Stair climber still kicks the butt of this thing, but a stairclimber is far less portable and way more expensive.

  45. Tommy says:

Hi, I don’t see it at the bottom of the resources section. Thanks

      1. Eric says:

        This isnt the power point….

  46. Mike C says:

Great episode Ben – as always!

  47. Benjamin Lucas says:

    Hey Ben,

In the comments for “The Ultimate Superfood You’ve Probably Never Heard Of” you mention that you were using phytoplankton. Are you still regularly using phytoplankton? Why or why not?

    Thanks,

    Ben

    1. Yes, I still have a bottle in my refrigerator and dose with it when injured or if I feel as though my immune system has been compromised. It's not the cheapest stuff on the face of the planet so I moderate my dosage.

  48. Jeffrey says:

Where is the Dry fasting power point?! :/

    1. Bottom of resources section.

      1. Dennis says:

        Hi Ben,

The last link on the resources section is, at least from what I see, is the link to the Google Drive containing Dr. Filanov’s Dry Fasting resources. I didn’t see the PowerPoint there (I figured I’d check).

Do you go into a Ketotic state when dry fasting? I assume you do after fasting for at least 2-3 days.

        1. Andy says:

Dry fasting gets you into ketosis at least twice as fast as water fasting 16 hours to 36 hours

        2. Alex says:

The documents dont seem to pop up? Any suggestions for the fasting info?

          1. Alex says:

Read the rest of the comments…disregard

      2. barton says:

Close. That looks like a 337 page ebook though

        1. Jeffrey says:

It seems everyone is looking for the POWERPOINT referenced in the podcast Ian created himself. If we could just get an answer on whether he is willing to share this or not I am sure it would satiate a lot of our inquiries.

          Thank you again. :)

          1. He is going to provide it – he's just been away the last few days! Stay tuned.

          2. Jeffrey says:

            Awesome! Thank you Ben! :)

          3. David Beall says:

did Ian ever provide the power point?? I’d love to see it . thanks ,David
