As compiled, deciphered, edited and sometimes read by Brock Armstrong, the Podcast Sidekick.

The Best Way To Lose Belly Fat

Patrick says: What is the best way to lose belly fat? From about Jan until now I have lost about 15lbs but I can't get rid of the belly fat. I eat LCHF and it has helped but I can't seem to get rid of the last few pounds. I play hockey a few times a week and workout a few times a week and realize it is probably diet based. But are there some supplements I can take to help?

In my response, I recommend:
Kion Lean
Yohimbine
CoolFatBurner (use code BEN15CFB for 15% off)

Does DIM Supplementation Help Fat Loss?

Gail wrote: Does DIM (diindolylmethane) help with fat loss?

In my response, I recommend:
Thorne Research Indole 3 Carbinol

Does Ketosis Increase Metabolic Rate?

Christian wrote: What are your thoughts on the Kevin Hall study and whether KETO has a metabolic advantage in the fat loss department. Thanks!

What Kind Of Diet Works For APOE4?

Terry wrote: Apo4 carriers supposedly cannot use fat efficiently in ketosis… thoughts, scientific evidence?

Hey Ben! another great Q&A. thanks for the report on APOE, i have just found out that I am APOE 3/4 so should probably cut out the bulletproof coffee every morning .;)

thanks for all the awesome info! I listen to your podcast as if my life depended on it.

  2. Terence says:

Hey Ben! Long time listener and now a KION customer.

I am shocked that you haven’t heard of the Indian custom of Shatapawali. In Marathi it refers to refers to taking a stroll after a meal. If you break down Shatapawli it means to “walk 100 steps”.

I first was told about this custom while living in Japan but I could not find any reference on the internet about the Japanese doing it. Ever since I was told about it, I am now a believer in the 100 steps.

    Thank you

    Terence

    Ben,

    Re: APOE4

So what genetic testing do you now recommend?

    1. 23andMe for testing then upload your data to a company like DNAFit for personalized fitness and diet results. https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/23andMe and https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/dnafit

  4. Ryan says:

    Hi Ben,

I was checking out my 23andMe results after listening to you and Brock talk about the APOE4 gene. While I have a hard time navigating the results it seems like I have the APOE2 gene with a genetic results of GG.

RS ID: rs5082 position:161193683 genotype: GG

In your opinion should I follow the recommendations you made for APOE4 and ditch the MCT oil and butter?

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    1. I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever. You would in my opinion only need to be concerned if you possess the APOE4 gene and are homozygous for it. I'd be happy to help you take a deeper dive into your genetic results via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching. and then choose a 20, 30 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.

    2. James Ronald says:

      Ryan,

  5. Helen M Driscoll says:

Ben – I just sent off samples to have my deuterium levels tested yesterday! Testing is done by the two doctor/scientists at the forefront of deuterium research in the U,S. ( Laszlo Boros, MD professor at UCLA, and T. Que Collins, PhD, a researcher in clinical immunology). You can order various tests (disease conditions and/or athletic performance) from them at https://www.cignaturehealth.com/ They have been working on DDW for more than 10 years.

Three months ago, we attended a local Functional Forum (for practitioners) on ketosis in Glendale CA. I had no idea what we were in for – their presentation on deuterium and deuterium depleted water blew up so many paradigms.( I didn’t know what Laszlo and Que were talking about. Nor did most of the professionals in the room!) And Dr. Pollack’s EZ structured water was old hat to most of us. This was a completely new way to think about mitochondrial function.

The basic problem with heavy water (high deuterium) is that the atomically heavy water breaks the spinning nanomotors within our mitochondria — at the molecular level — within our ATP/ADP cycles,

You can watch a really good animation of the process at the top of their website.
    https://www.cignaturehealth.com/
Please please interview them! Your explanation today somewhat covers it, and it is a huge new area of exploration (both in terms of longevity/disease but also athletic performance – they work with some major athletes.)

    Thanks! This is so exciting.

  6. Gavin C says:

What would you recommend to add to my kale shake in the morning, living fuel supergreens or organifi green juice? From an athlete standpoint.
