(oops, I meant to leave this here as a reply but ended up posting it in the Ask a question box, I hope you don’t find me spammy)

    Hi Ben,

Have you heard much about the vocal fry? I wonder if you’d consider asking the Nutrition Diva about it when you meet her for the WholeLife360 event.

I’ve noticed that you usually speak within the vocal fry range and I’m curious if you are aware of this physical vocal function. There are schools of thought about how it affects the vocal apparatus when people use it all the time (as opposed to using different ranges of motion of the voice box). [Ignore the recent news articles popping out about how this phenomenon is becoming prevalent in women. Men do it a lot, especially those, interestingly, in the athletic field.]

I think Monica Reinagel, being an opera singer, might have thought about it or two. She might even be a good guest to have in your podcast since vocal health is something I’ve been wishing to hear in your show.

    Love your program to bits!!!

    William

    1. Thanks William – I'll look into it!

  2. Rob says:

Hi Ben, as you were talking about skin (and you seem to know every cutting edge things on the planet), do you have any remedies for hypertrophic scar? Thanks man!

    1. Yep, that new skin serum I'm developing is going to be perfect for that. Stay tuned!

  3. Megan says:

Hi Ben – great advice on increasing appetite / weight gain / muscle building. For those looking for a clean protein to put in high-cal smoothies, what do you think of this new product? (Pending the taste is decent….)
    http://www.aminomarine.com/product/paleocean/
Only thing I can’t find is the amino acid profile. I’d like it to be relatively high in leu for post-AM-workout purposes. I sent an inquiry to the company and am waiting for a reply.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

    1. I'll only vouch for the EXOS Vegan, the LivingFuel Protein, and the EXOS whey at https://greenfieldfitnesssystems.com – those are the only ones I personally use right now!

  4. Tom of Finland says:

Sorry, but you need to Get your s**t together with how you are describing here The breathing methods!!

    1. Tom of Finland says:

Hmmm, me explaining here to you could be embarassing to you…So maybe you should listen (again?) the breathing part yourself. Or ask me again after?

  5. Dylan says:

Hi Ben, I’m still a little confused about the risks of the Wim Hof Method. Are you saying that if people pace themselves and don’t overdo the breathing, their brain will become more resistant to hypoxia-induced damage? Or, is some brain damage likely to occur with any chronic hyperventilation?

    1. The risks are: A) excessive cold exposure if you do it unsupervised or get too hypothermic; B) drop in CO2 resulting in less of a desire to take a breath when swimming underwater, thus increasing risk of shallow water blackout.

  6. jambo says:

Can you clarify on high alkaline vs high acidic breathing? I thought Wim (alkaline) advised deep breaths in followed by partial breaths out in rapid succession? But that seemed to be how you described high acidic breathing?

    1. WIM'S method would shift you into alkalosis because you'd be breathing off CO2. That simple!

      1. jambo says:

Understood but I don’t understand the difference in *how* the breathing methods are different in execution? They both seem to be described as deep inhales followed by shallow exhales? Am I missing something?

        1. Perhaps you should read the books. ;) Also, to really dig into details and teach you the different techniques personally myself, I'd be happy to help you via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching. and then choose a 20 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.

  7. Mehmet Balaban says:

Hey Ben. Will that anti-aging skin product of yours be helpful with excess skin as well? I lost 168 lbs and have some that I wanna get rid of without surgery :)

    1. Yup, many ingredients in it will be good for that too. just be sure to subscribe to my newsletter and you'll be the first to know when it comes out

  8. Mehmet Balaban says:

Levl measures acetone. I talked to Joe Anderson who is a “breath science expert” in that company. The product seemed really cool. I was trying to get myself an internship there, but no luck :/
