About the time this post goes live, I'll be on a plane over the ocean on my way to race a triathlon in Japan.

Needless to say, that means we've got a quick break from the usual podcast programming, and instead, a super special episode for you.

In today's episode, you're going to discover how to rewire your brain and body with something called “neurolinguistic programming”, or NLP.

I got one of the world's leading NLP experts on the show. His name is Andy Murphy, and we take a dive off the deep end in the audio – walking you through an actual NLP session.

The real action starts at about 30 minutes in. Feel free to leave your questions, comments and feedback below. Keep reading to listen to the audio now or download for later.

Also, here's a video that tells you more about the guy who did the NLP session – Mr. Andy Murphy:

Hey Ben, thanks so much for this. I’m looking to start using nlp to improve performance. I want to ask about different potential anchors. I am a rower, so I can’t really take my hands off the oar handle to squeeze my thumb or earlobe during a race. Do you have any other examples of anchors?

    1. Hey man. Have you thought of placing your tongue somewhere, or maybe grinding your teeth? Or a special breathing pattern? Hope it helps, although I see this is over a year old :-)

  3. Ana Jones says:

    Amazing, insightful, and enlightening-with thanks!

Wow. What an experience. I was really pulled in. By the end of the session I had tingly sensation throughout my chest neck and diaphragm. It was a full rush, and there were brief moments as I was coming back down while walking it off where I nearly broke into tears. Are these typical physiological responses to nap? Powerful stuff!

5 Stars on the NLP podcast
Ben, you might find adding this to "fisting":
"How Clenching Your Fists Boost Memory And Recall"
Do a Google/Bing search for the details

To create "sparks" to ignite Fisting, I would suggest adding physical things, e.g., a brick on your vehicle's accelerator in the morning to remind you to take time to get into your Zone
Too, wearing your watch upside down, or an hourly alarm to remind you to move around and NLP, or putting those small tabs around with the Post-It glue to make them movable
These little Sparks–you constantly rearrange so you will notice them–are to remind you to NLP with little things that are not one of your super races or super workouts

    1. Great tips! I will check it out – thanks.

I would recommend anyone who wants to really experience NLP in a fantistic way to attend one of Tony Robbins UPW events. I attended one of his UPWs in 2010, it was a fun time and a great learning experience.
