  • So rather than write more books Dr. Mercola is going to be writing scientific reviews for journals. It has been about twenty years since he published in the science journals and thought it was about time to start up again.

  • One is Tyler Lebaron, one of the sharpest scientists, humble, brilliant chemist, biochemist and knows molecular biology well.
  • The big one is RSS feeds (really simple syndication), which is essentially an easy way to stay up to date with your favorite websites, such as blogs or online magazines or PubMed which is really important
  • RSS feeds were how Dr. Mercola was able to find and write about so much great content in the early days of his site. In 2005 he used an RSS reader called Google Reader but they shut it down six years ago.
  • Would not use it now though even if it was up because Google is evil on steroids.
  • Alternatives to Google
  • Meta.org RSS Feed search for PubMed lets you follow as many search terms so you don’t have to go to Pub Med every day and do individual searches for them
  • There has been a trend towards open access and now nearly 1/3 articles on PubMed are now free to read
  • If you or someone you know has academic credentials at a university you can typically get free access
  • ResearchGate.com
  • 25-page paper with 200 references on blood flow restriction (BFR).  It isn’t published yet but I can give your listeners a 25-page consumer summary with videos and if they want can send the review paper after it is published in BFR.Mercola.com

-Why the public does not accept that EMF is a serious danger to their health…22:00

  • In 2011, the WHO labels cell phones as a class 2B carcinogen
  • 2018, NTP study shows that cell phones are clearly class I carcinogen
  • Cellphones are the cigarettes of the 21st century
    • Kills you slowly
    • Companies knew it killed customers (as do cell phone companies)
    • Same PR agencies discredit researchers (creating doubt and controversy among the public)
  • Convenient and useful
  • Invisible Captured media
  • Captured federal regulatory agencies
  • FCC started 6 BILLION dollar program to spread 5G to rural areas
  • EMF is unavoidable (unlike cigarette smoke, which you can mitigate somewhat)

  • 100X faster than 4G.  Most don’t need it now
  • Possible commercials use that need high bandwidth like self-driving cars
  • SpaceX rollout
  • There have been zero safety studies on the effects of 5G
  • AT&T
  • As we start 2020 implementation is not widespread.  Companies like AT&T lie and say it is 5G and it isn’t
  • Go to browser on phone and go to fast.com and hit enter unless > 500 megs per second it is NOT 5G
  • Fiber optic cable is the best alternative to 5G
  • It's essentially a giant public health experiment

    I am usually a big supporter of Ben & Dr Mercola but the Electronic Engineer and Critical Thinker inside of me has way to many red flags going up about this particular episode.

    1. The amount of times Dr Mercola dodges difficult questions Ben asks and redirects on some mildy related tangent is infuriating and the very fact that Ben does nothing to stop it is even worse. It makes the entire podcast feel very PR driven.

    2. Starlink is NOT 5G. If Dr Mercola knew anything about RF he would understand why Starlink can not be 5G (higher frequencies do not radiate as far as lower frequencies and are attenuated more by water ie clouds).

    3. If no studies have been done on 5G safeties or dangers then what is this all about. You cant say on one hand that you can use 3G and 4G studies to determine the safety of 5G when they are an order of magnitude higher in frequency. You also contradict yourself by saying sunlight is safe and close in the spectrum to 5G. How is it reasonable to make the jump for one case and not the other!? If you are going to winge about the lack of studies, why not propose how to do one on the podcast? Or even put your money where your mouth is and fund one? The amount of open source tools to setup mock infrastructure these days is amazing and very affordable.

    4. Why not go into a little more detail as to what 5G is as compared to 4G and 3G. I suspect Dr Mercola doesnt actually know. Hint: 5G describes an advance in the protocol, not the frequency bands used which Dr Mercola has an issue with.

    5. Ben, what kind of phone do you have? Currently there are so few phones on the market that support 5G and even if you do have one of the few that does, when your phone switches over it might not even be the millimeter band frequencies that everyone has a problem with.

    6. Yes, google is the devil. The amount they control the perception of ‘The Internet’ is scary. However your recommendation whilst decent can be made better instead of using Brave, use Firefox. As Brave uses the opensource Chromium engine, a lot of core developers that work at Google (so they basically drive a lot of the decisions that control the web since so many browsers use Chromium under the hood). Whereas Firefox is owned by Mozilla and does not use Chromium under the hood.

    Dr Mercola, I am sure this podcast was meant to drive sales to your book but you could at least try not drive it with extreme fear mongering (especially during a Pandemic whereby people are doing unreasonable things to infrastructure).

    Ben, I always enjoy your podcasts but this one was bad. I enjoyed your parenting tip with incentivized reading. Keep up the good work and maybe dont be afraid to push back on your guests more as they end up controlling how you look.

      Also you drive a Tesla Dr Mercola. The amount of magnetic and RF interference electric cars emit vs what you will receive from a 5G tower miles (RF only) away is again orders of magnitude higher.

  3. Big respect to @bengreenfield for delving into some of the most serious threats to our collective health with Dr. @Mercola. Some health gurus will not touch the subjects of #vaccination and #5G as they won’t risk their algorithmic celebrity, but not Ben.

    Not all L-carnosine as the same. You need carnosinase resistant carnosine, otherwise, L-carnosine supplement is useless, this is crucial.

    Wait, Dr. Mercola what about EMFs inside the Tesla? Kruse once said he went to a Tesla showroom with an EMF meter and “They were not prepared to meet Jack Kruse.” LOL

    I drive a car with no wifi signal and use USB instead of Bluetooth for this reason. Thanks.

    Hey Ben,

    Just listen to this episode. Very enlightening. My question is I have a Garmin Fenix 5x plus watch. I don’t have bluetooth or wifi connected to my phone (never set that feature up).

    There still is GPS on the watch but from my understanding is that it’s only on when you’re using a function that requires it like workouts or maps.

    So is this watch safe to use? or is there still EMF being emitted?

      I have a garmin 935 and if you disable the phone connectivity it does not emit any frequencies. I verified this with goevital’s HF Meter. You can still use gps and hr function without any radiation.

    Greetings Ben. So needless to say there is a lot of confusion regarding grounding and dirty electricity. Dr. Mercola recently released a podcast with Brian Hoyer, whom you obviously worked with, stating that you and Clint are misinformed in regards to the subject. Dr. Mercola had nothing but kind words about yourself and Clint but his statement has caused considerable confusion on whether My wife and I should continue use the grounding mat for our bed? Brian stated there was only one Meter he knew of that could measure dirty electricity and it is very expensive. So without the ability to accurately measure, I took away from his comments, one would have to lean to the ground having dirty electricity? Especially in a densely populate area, such as where we live, where there are multiple apartment building and power lines. We purchased the mat to help negate any excessive EMF exposure in our Apartment complex. Now we are concerned the mat is amplifying the frequencies during sleep?     I sleep on Clint Ober’s grounding mat and I live in New Jersey. I’m confused about whether geopathic stress or dirty electricity is going to affect this mat when I’m sleeping. Should I still sleep on this mat?

      This is what I’m wondering as well. I know Clint has presented information and shown studies to explain that this isn’t the case. I believe Ben has discussed this same question as well. I’m confused now as well because when he Dr. Mercola mentioned the “dirty” electricity part, Ben didn’t say anything.

      I’ve experienced nothing but positives since grounding and sleeping on a mat. Energy, sleep, healing have all increased. What is the true consensus? Is it bad long term to sleep on the mat?

          I’ve heard Jack Kruse day that grounding mats have an EMF issue also. I thought it was because they are made of metal and if you live in a city near lots of non-native EMF, you’d be attracting it to you, just like wearing metal jewelry. Ben also said recently that these things are suspect if you live in a city (which is too bad b/c so many of us bought through his affiliate link) but he didn’t say why, but maybe it comes through the ground somehow and up to your grounding mat.

    Ben, my Mom passed away December of 2018. She was an Naturopathic Doctor in Oklahoma City. What’s crazy is so many of the topics you discuss in your podcasts were things she would discuss with my brother and I in the early 2000s. Especially the issues with EMF. She would tell me to never set my laptop in my lap because it would mess with my twig and berries! Haha! some call it other things but I was always mindful even though I had no clue what she was talking about. Listening to your podcasts with Dr. Mercola have reminded me of the hundreds of conversations I had with my Mom about this stuff. So crazy that she was concerned about EMFs before anyone was talking about it. Thank you for going into detail about these issues and for helping me understand in detail all the things my Mom would discuss with me. She would have been a big fan of yours if she was still here today. When she passed away she had thousands of dollars worth of EMF protection devices around her house and office. I was fortunate to be able to use some of those in my house. My brother and I opened an organic juice and smoothie bar in 2013 and talk to customers on a daily basis about your podcast. It’s the only place I trust to send customers when they want to know more about certain health concerns. Anyways, thank you! Thank you for your honest review of products, devices, and supplements.     When discussing the “Plants are killing us theory” (i.e, the Carnivore Diet or the Plant Paradox) please provide a balanced discussion. Specifically, you should inform the listeners of what the peer reviewed medical journal articles seem to indicate. I do not understand why these facts (arguably, the most important facts) are left out of the discussion when this topic is discussed.

    Almost all peer reviewed studies in medical journals show either a decrease in mortality or a decrease in cancer, heart disease, and / or diabetes with an increase in fruits, vegetables and nuts. Conversely, peer reviewed medical journal articles also tend to show an increase in mortality and an increase in diseases with high meat or poultry consumption.

    It should also be noted that the cultures with the longest life spans (i.e., The Blue Zones) eat a 95-100% plant based diet. Plants do not appear to be killing these people.

    In terms of potential benefits of a carnivore diet, there may be anecdotal reports of weight loss or studies showing an improvement in biomarkers. However, this does not mean such diets are safe for the long term. Unless and until there are several peer reviewed medical journal mortality or epidemiological studies supporting such diets, caution should be advised.

    With respect to carnosine, it might be useful for the listeners to know that non-animal forms of carnosine are available through supplements. I have been taking supplemental carnosine for more than a decade as hedge against low carnosine levels in vegetarians.
