How To Increase Testosterone After Exercise [47:08]

Jim says: You have talked about how testosterone levels can be prolonged if you simply fast after a workout and that they dip if you eat post-workout. I am wondering if eating post-workout just causes a drop in blood testosterone because your insulin takes the testosterone out of the blood and shovels it into the muscle to begin recovery. So I am wondering if eating post workout is actually something we could do to enhance recovery and that blood levels of testosterone are not, in fact, the real desired effect.

How To Fix The School Lunch Program [59:53]

Ben says: I would love to hear your ideas for avoiding the epidemic of poor quality food in our public school system. And also if you have any ideas of how we can affect a change in the system so future children don't have to suffer. My daughter's kindergarten offers hot dogs, nachos, corn dogs and an ice cream truck from Hershey's. I would love you hear your thoughts on combating this issue and getting better vendors into the system.

    Dear Ben, thanks for another rich jem.
    One question on the exercise and fasting. If in a situation of 14 hours fast overnight daily, and intrudusing a strong mix workout of 60minutes in the beginning of the fasting, so late at night, 7-8 pm. Would you recommend the essential amino acids 1 hour post exercise, to balance recover and don’t disturb to much of the fasting?

    Thank you, I especially enjoyed the question re: school lunch. Thanks for sharing what you pack for the boys. I eat like you do and have always set that example for my kids (5 yrs old and 18 months). I’d pack those exact lunches you described if my picky 5 yr old would eat them! He’s getting better, and we’ve always encouraged him to at least try new things, but it’s slow and difficult progress. Did your boys ever go through a picky food phase (I’m hoping my kids will be as adventurous as your food-wise if we just keep trying!) Also, what is your philosophy when they go to parties or playdates, whatever, where everything served is crap! I fight this battle all the time. I serve the good stuff at home and hope I’ve taught them to make good choices when out (and they usually do). Thanks!

    Great Q&A episode!

    I recently started taking a high-quality colostrum supplement only on the days that I work out. I take a strength and conditioning class 3-4 times a week. Do you think taking this supplement on those days is a safe strategy long-term??
