Last month, I hopped on an airplane and flew down to Miami, Florida, where I underwent a special type of protocol that is technically called “extracorporeal shock wave therapy,” also known as “Audio Frequency Shockwave Therapy.”

Basically, although the physician on today's podcast will be able to explain the nitty-gritty science behind it, this technique uses mild acoustical waves to “shock” a male or female's genitals either A) back to life in the case of things like low drive, erectile dysfunction or small size or B) turn one into the equivalent of, pardon the expression, a sex machine with more blood flow, bigger size, better orgasms and much more.

Let's just say I was pretty pleased with my own personal results, so pleased in fact, that I decided to get the doctor who oversaw my procedure onto a podcast. Whether you're a guy or a girl, if you're interested in enhancing your sex life, building new blood vessels, or fixing drive and sexual issues, this is a must listen.

Dr. Richard Gaines, MD, FAARM, ABAARM, is the Chief Medical Officer at an age management medical practice company called HealthGAINS. He is a leading practitioner of the rapidly evolving science of “physician-guided age management”, and has been administering bioidentical hormone therapy since 1993.

After a distinguished thirty-year career as a physician and health-care executive, Dr. Gaines became president and chief medical officer of the age management medical practice HealthGAINS, which he founded in 2005. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1981, completed his internship at Tufts University School of Medicine and his residency at Harvard Medical School and earned a fellowship in cardiac and obstetric anesthesia at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He subsequently served as a physician at Huntington Memorial Hospital and as an anesthesiologist at Harvard Community Health Plan and Sheridan Healthcorp.

Dr. Gaines is also a member of the following professional organizations:

-ACAM – The American College for Advancement in Medicine
-A4M – The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine
-IFM – The Institute for Functional Medicine
-AMMG – Age Management Medicine Group

His professional certifications include:

-Fellowship in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (FAARM) from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.

-Board certification from the American Board of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM).

-Certification as a Functional Medicine Practitioner with advanced training at The Institute for Functional Medicine.
Hormone Replacement Therapy

Dr. Gaines is a pioneer in the use of hormone replacement therapy, or HRT for both men and women. Before dedicating himself to helping men and women be healthier, happier, and more vital from their 30s to their 40s and beyond through HRT, Dr. Gaines worked as an anesthesiologist. For three decades he was a board certified anesthesiologist at some of the most well-known hospitals in the country, and he maintains that specialty to this day.

Most notably related to today's podcast, Dr. Gaines is the creator of something called “Gaines Enhancement”, which is one of the only drug free, surgery free male enhancement procedures that not only provides effective treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED), but that can also increase both the length and girth of the penis.

During our discussion, you'll discover:

-The shocking number of guys who take Viagra, Cialis or some other kind of ED med…[10:25]

-Aside from the exorbitant cost, are there any known deleterious side effects to Viagra…21:25[]

-The fascinating history of the use of sound wave therapy and pulse wave therapy in medicine…[25:45]

-How this same technique can be used to significantly decrease risk of heart attack…[31:40]

-Whether the GainsWave therapy is any different than a “pump” that many men use…[46:00]

-The “P-shot” and “O-shot” that Dr. Gaines injects into the genitals of men and women…[50:55]

-How what Dr. Gaines does is any different than a company like, say, Cenegenics does…[52:53]

-And much more!

    So, the big questions are:
    How Long Does It Last?
Will a patient need to take another procedure again?

The study measured two types of guilt: penitential and persecutory. It measured participants’ ratings of these two types by asking them five-point scales. The study also noted whether the participants felt persecutory guilt. However, there was no correlation between penitential guilt and HAD anxiety. A study based on this research would be useful in assessing the different types of guilt. While this study is limited, it has a broad scope.

  19. Who doesn’t want a stronger erection with optimal sensation! The original research on this painless pulsating sound wave therapy for stronger erections was first published in 2010. Here at Physician Artistry in the Washington DC metro area, I specialize in treatment of erectile dysfunction and we have seen amazing results over the last few years. Recently the Chinese published a comprehensive analysis of the various treatment protocols utilized around the world and found that the biggest impact happens with a twice a week protocol for 3 weeks, followed by a three week break and then a repeat of the three weeks of treatment. I have found a dramatic boost in the results when I couple the sound wave technology with a Priapus Shot (P-Shot). Thank you for an interesting podcast.

    Hey Ben,
I was particularly interested in the Vaxxen supplement that you advertised… I’ve never personally recommended any type of supplemental hormone booster (other than those arbitrary methods that can boost T-levels that you’ve mentioned before i.e. scrotal iodine staining, and scrotal infrared light exposure) and so this one raises and eyebrow for me.
Would you personally take this supplement? Would you whole-heartedly recommend this supplement? I ask because I know such supplements can cause serious damage to the body’s endogenous production of hormones.
I am considering taking this product but I can see there aren’t many long term studies done on it thus far. Thank you Ben.

    1. I can't personally take it because I compete in world anti-doping associated sanctioned sports… But if I didn't this is certainly something I would consider as an alternative to injections or patches or lotions and something that would allow you to increase hormone production without taking exogenous hormones or shutting down your own production…

      1. John Chandler says:

What was the Vaxxen Supplement? I am 49 and want to boost my low T by having my own system make it (not shutting down my testes). I just found your amazing podcasts but can you link me to any that would help my as far as natural foods and ways of boosting Nitric Oxide. I have also previously tried Clomiphene at 12 mg a day for natural T boost any thoughts on that? any dangers?

I am very excited to try this treatment. made an appointment with my urologist..I have a very serious question..I am definitely NOT IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL SIZE OF GIRTH….I have been fortunate (blessed) with a very large penis…9/34 inches to be exact…and a 3 inch girth….will that automatically accompany the treatment????or is it all part of the one and same package…thanks..

Buy Fildena 100Mg and Cenforce 200Mg Pills for solving your erectile dysfunction problem. Both pills has sildenafil citrate is an active ingredient. You can also use Vidlaista ED Pills for male dysfunction treatment.

  25. Piet says:

Great discussion and really excited! Do you have any recomendations for preventing or lessening the symptoms of menapause?

    1. Hey Piet, check out the question from Graeme here: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2014/10/episode-… and then call this into the podcast as it would be great to cover on there. You can do this by going to speakpipe.com/bengreenfield and keeping it under 45 seconds.

  26. John T says:

Is there a listing of trusted locations that perform this treatment anywhere?

    1. You can find them on the website in the resources section above.

  27. BozeMan says:

Dude, Ben, this is good stuff and you’ve got me excited about possibilities here. Thanks for whipping it out and laying it all out there. Due to gradual damage to the pudendal artery (because I didn’t know how damaging the nose on a road bike saddle can be to the dick), I ended up having a new artery wired in by a legend of a doctor in CA. However, as good as a new artery to the fun zone is, things still aren’t awesome and I’m only 34. My surgeon is doing a study on low-intensity ESWT but the surgery ruled me out and he didn’t have any recs for finding a provider in North America. I’d found one in Toronto, but hadn’t taken it too seriously. Now I’m back, considering this. This has got me hopeful again that I could have raging morning wood, spontaneous bones and an even more responsive hardon for sex, too.

So stoked, man. So. Stoked. Thanks!

(For what it’s worth: consider taking a look at the impact of the traditional road bike saddle on erections. Might be worth discussing on a show at some point, as I’m guessing you’ve got plenty of followers who ride and value their hardons. Happy to pass along my dick doc’s name and info. He was one of the first in the USA to do this reparative surgery and he’s always happy to spread the word.)

    1. Awesome. great info, and yes, road biking can wreak havoc on folks!

  28. Jodi says:

Great podcast but very misleading. I live in Aventura and as a woman was interested in the study mostly because I’d like there to be more efficacious studies and help for women. This treatment requires 6 treatments at a cost of 3000$. The “free” offer is one treatment ( so you must commit and pay for the other 5 as well as become a patient( fair enough) but at an additional 695 cost for consultation and bloodwork. I feel this should have been disclosed as your remarkable results with 1 treatment are not even an option and now the entire podcast comes off like a sales pitch. I’m a loyal listener and look to you as a voice for authenticity and transparency.

    1. I did ONE treatment and it worked awesome for me.

    2. Martin Flynn MD says:

There aren’t studies with women that I can find. But as they are analogous structures, it would presuppose that it would work with women as well. I would like to explore that subset of clients as well.

As the podcast mentioned, there are both fast and slow responders; statistically, there are also no responders! Mr. Greenfield is a young outlier; it would be wrong to extrapolate his experience to another.

All of the studies use a series of sessions; comparatively speaking, the $3000 for 6 treatments cost matches up well against any other non-invasive, out-patient experience. Botox and fillers can easily run into the thousands on an annual basis, Ulthera is about $5000, “smart lipo” in the same ballpark, and so on.

As a GainsWave provider in Los Angeles, I’m finding the process sells and generates referrals on its own; I’m fine with accepting a per tx payment for those so inclined, because they ALL come back.

      Best,

  29. Tim says:

    Ben- always great info.

Realistically, with a shockwave machine, could this be done at home?

I know Canada shockwave is a big player in the shockwave therapy devices.

    1. Hmm…I am not sure. I suppose you could slather on the numbing ream and give it a try. Keep me posted on what you find for home shockwave therapy devices…

  30. Ralph says:

That was quite a stimulating podcast. Thank you. There are so many references to this kind of therapy that I found it quite amusing not ever having heard about it before. From the grafics on Gains site I would think that this German appliance might be used: DUOLITH® SD1 T-TOP »F-SW ultra«

What I wonder however is: Does one really need an extremely expensive medicinal device?? After all you certainly wouldn’t need extra strength there! I’ve ordered myself a smaller ultrasound device from Amazon to test the concept

    1. Because it's my dick and I only have one, I'm going to stick with the medical clinic on this one personally…

    2. BozeMan says:

For what it’s worth: Ralph, good eye! The Duolith is used by the Ontario Men’s Clinic in Toronto (http://www.ontariomenshealth.ca/erectile-dysfunction-shock-wave-therapy-toronto-ontario-edswt).

I’ve talked with a rep at HealthGains about specifics and the Ontario Men’s Clinic posts their prices for 2017 on the site. There’s a significant difference in price between the two locations, however, (caveat: I haven’t yet called OMC) it doesn’t appear that OMC includes PRP in their treatment. They also talked about doing one treatment per week for six weeks, where as HealthGains says they can do three treatments in three days’ time (which, for someone who’s going to have to travel to receive this therapy, might make the higher price worth it when hotels, etc, are taken into account).

      1. BozeMan says:

Update on doing it at Ontario Men’s Clinic: the clinic responded that, at this point in time, they do not accept patients from outside of Canada.

  31. Ian says:

Ben, any insight on buying your own extra corporeal shockwave device? It seems to be a common thing for race horses for recovery and healing and could potentially be a pretty useful biohacking device.

  32. Matt says:

Very cool information, nothing in Canada eh? Haven’t jumped on the website just yet

  33. Tim says:

Could this device or something extremely similar be purchased

    1. It's possible. But I wouldn't get too wild wild West on your genitals. ;-)

  34. Gale says:

    How much is the cost?

    1. Give them a call and mention this show. They'll taper it all to your needs.

  35. Jessica says:

How does this work for women? I only saw it being used for men on the website.

    1. they use it on clitoris and vaginal lips for the same effect (and do that "O-Shot" too)…

  36. Paul steffan says:

Could this device be used on musculature to increase muscle growth, efficiency, and recovery?

  37. What type machine is used? A specific frequency?
