  1. Skype has opened up its online-dependent consumer beta for the world, right after launching it largely within the U.S.

and You.K. previously this month. Skype for Internet also now facilitates Linux and Chromebook for

instant online messaging connection (no video and voice

however, those call for a plug-in set up).

The increase of the beta provides assist for a longer set

of dialects to aid reinforce that international user friendliness

  2. Thanks for tackling this unpopular subject. You mentioned that our children are being bathed in wifi frequencies while at school that are the same frequency/type as weapons developed by armed forces. Is there any safe distance from the wifi routers at school? Obviously right next to a router is no good but is there any hope that my children brains are not being fried if they are not right next to the wifi devices? Here is hoping. Thank You

    1. In a school environment, the farther you are from the router the more you reduce its potential harmful effects. Also, in a classroom environment, when not using your laptop or tablet, make sure you turn off the WiFi from your device or completely turn off the device itself. This will help reduce the immediate exposures around you.

  3. Hi Ben, his defendershield.com website does not seem to be working properly, I cannot even contact him to ask a question. thoughts on how to buy from his site?

  4. Great podcast, guys—big thanks!

Have one question: Am I exposed to radiation if my phone is on, but stored in a DefenderShield? I’ve no auto notifications on except phone calls and text messages. Normally I just put my phone on Airplane mode and turn it on only when I need to use it. So, with DefenderShield the phone acts like it’s on the Airplane mode, but can respond to signals from a tower? Thanks again!

  5. I use a wireless head set to listen to podcasts. Am I getting more RF this way than using the traditional ear buds? Thanks

  6. Ben,

Using a wire offers the same security as wifi with no password, so if the wifi is secured, use it! If you’re on a network someone else controls and not on secured wifi, be VERY careful (in other words, don’t do it unless you have a VPN service… ProXPN is one example).. Sure I have my wifi antenna on a timer to be off when we’re normally sleeping, but in hotels it’s on anyway whether I’m using it or not, and if it can offer my connection any security, I’m taking advantage.

And I don’t go anywhere without my phone in a BlocSack, and my airtube headset :)

  7. Hi guys!! Super informative podcast (as always)!!

A few “lightbulbs” went off for me while listening, and I’d like to confirm that I’m “getting it” correctly.

I have listened to other podcasts on this subject, and am now convinced I must purchase the defender protection for my whole family. In my listening, other functional medicine-type folks have expressed concern that using a cell phone protector could actually make the risk WORSE (they were not convinced, so opted against the usage).

Do I understand correctly that the Defender case is different because it is not the type that STRENGTHENs the connection to the tower, it just simply BLOCKS it? Might the other folks be concerned about the first type, and not the Defender type?

I also got the “memo” that we must make sure the blocking side of the case is AGAINST our body!! Good to know there is a right way and a wrong way!! I appreciate any clarification you can give.

    Thanks – Jennifer

  8. My apologies if this has been answered.

I have a defender shield iphone case. Is the front of the iphone supposed to face me when it’s in my pocket or the back?

    Thanks!

  9. Hey Ben I was wondering where I could buy some protection cases from ELF/EMF waves for my cell phone and laptop.

I thought my wireless headphones blocked EMF waves for the longest time until now haha doh!

  10. Hello.

I am wondering what kind of risk I am taking by using the SR1 for sleep, which emits the pEMF of 0.05 Gauss…?

  11. Hi Ben, great podcast. I’m curious of the laptop radiation distance. Basically I’m asking if I never use my laptop on my lap and only ever use it on my wooden desk (1 foot above my lap/testes) is the defender shield still useful? Thanks in advance

    1. Hi Eman,

A laptop presents the most potential health risk when used directly against the body. This is referred to as ‘zero distance.’ Even after just a foot or more of distance between the transmitting source and your body, the most critical health risks of the EMF emissions substantially reduced. The DefenderShield is still useful at the one foot distance as it blocks 100% of the RF in the direction of the shielding, however, some find it not necessary when keeping their laptop one foot away from their body.

    1. Hi Trent,

In general, smart meters send data to the utility company via RF signals from fifty to thousands of times a day, depending on who you ask. Each pulse can last from less than a second to twelve or more hours, depending on the action being performed. The smart meter RF transmitter frequency of operation is typically in the 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz bands. Power output is normally around 1 watt in the 902 MHz band and much less in the 2.4 GHz band. These power levels are about 2/3 the level of a typical cellphone output.

  12. (Doh… this ended up as a reply to another person’s comment. That was not my intent. Reposting.)

Daniel Debaun mentioned cell phones have different power settings that they switch in to depending on how far they are from the tower.

How do the DefenderShield cases affect that? Does the phone power up to full power because of the shield?

    1. Hi M. Travis,

The DefenderShield does not influence or hinder the signal of the cell phone inside the case. The shielding is on one side of the case, to protect your body, and the backside is left unshielded so the signal can connect with the closest cell tower. Because of this design, the phone does not need to power up any more additionally, than what is needed to connect to the closest tower based on your location and distance from the tower. We invite you to visit our website to learn more about DefenderShield technology and cases at www.DefenderShield.com.

  13. Hey Ben, I am into home control of my lights using the Google Home and Phillips Hue lights. Is this dangerous as far as wifi. Do they continually emit a wifi signal?

    Thanks, Gary

      1. Speaking of home automation, I’m looking at a product (lighswitch) that uses bluetooth to connect all the lights at the switch, which allows you to then connect all lights and control via the switch or an app on your phone. I understand that the Wi-Fi will have EMF but what about all the light switches that are all connected via bluetooth, seem like you would be constantly walking through a web of radio waves. (picturing the laser alarms you see guarding a safe in the movies:)) I’ve heard bluetooth technology produces a much lower EMF volume, but still…

  14. Thank you so much for this podcast and the information you are sharing, but I do have a question. I work on a busy unit in a hospital. We have work cell phones which I constantly am using throughout a 12 hour shift. The cell phones we use look more like walky-talkys and do not work outside of the hospital. Even though I am very conscious about preventing exposure from radiation of my own cell phone, I am concerned about using my work phone. I have to wear it on me at all times. Do you have any suggestions for these types of cell phones?

    1. Daniel Debaun mentioned cell phones have different power settings that they switch in to depending on how far they are from the tower.

How do the DefenderShield cases affect that? Does the phone power up to full power because of the shield?

    2. Hi Noelle,

They make the ConcealShield Privacy, Security, and EMF Protection Pouch, a pouch that can be worn with a cross body strap or around the waist. This allows one to put the cell phone in the outer pocket, to still receive signal, while shielding the body from emissions. Thanks for listening!

  15. Hi guys, interesting podcast thanks.

There wasn’t any mention of grounding techniques (earthing cables, sleep mats, bare feet etc). Where do these stand on the effectiveness spectrum?

    Thanks

  16. Any info/studies re: the effect of all the different emissions from phones affecting the cells, bones, etc. in a person’s hands from holding the phone, even though it’s away from the head? Seems if the signals are that disruptive, they would cause issues w/anything they contacted. Thanks!
