– The morning brew recipe Ben mentions in intro:

Alright, this recipe is fully loaded fuel that tastes like ambrosia of the gods. I tried it out this morning and my brain has been humming along quite nicely since about 5am. Here's the full recipe (yeah, you need plenty of ingredients, but it's worth it). Into a Nutribullet or any other heat-friendly blender, add the following:

– 2 heaping tablespoons of MiCacao mix (this is a mix of cacao nibs and cacao shells that gives you the experience of drinking pure chocolate with no calories)

– 2 packets Four Sigmatic Chaga mushroom extract

– 2 packets Four Sigmatic Lion's Mane extract

– 1 dropperful Omica Organics butterscotch toffee stevia

– 1 teaspoon of a good salt (I used Colima salt)

– 12-16 piping hot ounces of Kion Coffee

Blend on high for about 90 seconds, then open your blender carefully as contents can expand and get foamy (and the foam is oh-so-delicious). I may or may not have also put 0.5 grams of psilocybin extract into this mix, but that's your call. ;) Bon appetit!

    Ben,

Couldn’t listen to the episode because there was some audio issues- sounded like there was a second track running on a 2 second delay. I’m not sure if this was an issue with my podcast player (Pocketcasts), but it hasn’t affected any other podcasts I have.

  2. AJ says:

Great episode and amazing points on fasting!

One thing though – everybody has MTHFR. It’s all about the mutation that one has and acting on it accordingly.

I believe there are 6 different mutations throughout the population.

Just got inspired to write an article on it!

Hi Ben. Regarding the low carb study, and your mention how low carb diets could work for tennis/soccer players etc, is it odd that there doesn’t seem to be studies done on how these sportspeople could benefit from low/lowish carb? And do you think we may hear about more pro football/tennis/soccer/whatever else sportspeople going lower carb/paleo/etc in the next few years? Thanks.

  4. Peter says:

    Hallo Ben!

Got a podcast idea for you – that’s not one of the categories in your form, so I’ll post it here on the latest podcast instead. :-)

What ordinary fruits could easily be planted to be trees by the side of a trail?

I’m a trail runner and this question’s inspired by the Outdoor Magazine article earlier this year about us being lazy bums not doing our share of trail maintenance. So I started thinking, is there an easier way to do that than bringing a dirt shovel along by strapping it to the back?

And I came up with the following; How about just bring some fruits along on my trail run, eat them, then planting the cores so that there in the future will be a natural aid station tree by the side of the trail. Long term maintenance is also maintenance, right?

But what fruit cores should be used? I figure most apple cores would work, probably many pear cores too, but what about avocado cores, apricot cores or cherry kernels?

I once spotted a cherry tree behind an abandoned old cottage near a trail, full of fruits it was exactly what I needed at the time, and I’ll give that memory credit for coming up with the idea.

I figure your podcast would be a good one for bringing on a specialist or two in this area. What fruits would be the best? Are different seasons better for different fruits? How deep should one dig? How important are the type of terrain? Does altitude matter? Etc.

And speaking of long term planning; ”Have you ever planted a tree along the side of a trail?” is a question you’ll be able to ask all your future guests for a possible bridge to enviromental issues, or just as one of those standard ending questions so many podcaster have. It’s a win-win!

    // Peter

  5. Jenny says:

Thank you Ben for answering my question re lean females and fasting. Do you think it is important for healthy aging to do a 24 hour fast in the way you stated periodically? How often? How about a fasting mimicking diet? Thank you so much. You are awesome! You may remember me. I met you at Runga in Panama and have been learning from you for many years.
